  • José Javier Rodríguez Rodríguez fue de 1990 a 2019 profesor titular de Literatura Española de la Universidad del País Vasco / Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea. Su docencia e investigación se centraron fundamentalmente en las letras españolas de los siglos XVI al XVIII y en las relaciones literarias entre España y Portugal. Este volumen de homenaje a su memoria reúne estudios de sus compañeros en el Departamento de Filología Hispánica, Románica y Teoría de la Literatura (hoy Filología e Historia) y de colegas y amigos de Portugal, España e Italia que dirigieron o participaron en proyectos de investigación a los que contribuyó José Javier. El título recuerda un verso de “Huerto deshecho”, poema de ancianidad de Lope de Vega. En el verso se invocan los árboles de Atenea y de Apolo, la inteligencia y la poesía, una cualidad fundamental y una pasión inmarcesible del homenajeado.
