Estudió con Sigmar Polke en Hamburgo en los setenta. Aparece en la escena del arte contemporáneo a principios de los años ochenta dentro de una generación de artistas como Martin Kippenberger, Georg Herold o Werner Büttner. Entre sus exposiciones individuales más recientes destacan las presentadas en la Whitechapel Gallery, Londres (2006), Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris (2009), Räume für Kunst, Freiburg, Alemania (2010), y Carré d'Art, Nimes (2011). Vive y trabaja entre Suiza y España.
