Discípulo de Murguía y Valle-Inclán, amigo de Castelao, implicado en el Rexionalismo y en el movimiento agrarista, escritor, pintor, ilustrador y promotor cultural, el humanista pontevedrés Prudencio Canitrot falleció muy joven en Madrid un mes de enero de 1913. Desde su muerte, su vida y obra permanecieron en el más absoluto olvido.
