Together with the more widespread view that only considers Salvador Dalí as a prominent visual artist, there is another, less known, approach to Dalí which addresses his activity as a writer since his adolescence. Indeed, he did engage in this practice for the rest of his life, covering almost every genre: poetry, journal, essay, article, novel, script and screenplay. In fact, Dalí has, on many occasions, used literature as a means to conclude his paintings, and, at other times, the creative spark that is later seen in his canvas stemmed from his writings. This work aims to go through the different stages in the life of this 20th century genius and multi-talented artist. In order to do this, a comparative study will be carried out on the seven instances in which painting and poetry are interpreted so that they become a paradigm of the interdisciplinary nature that, ever since Horace, has eventually been known as ut pictura poesis.
