  • Tot fa pensar que el Ball de Sant Andreu, d'autor anònim, va ser escrit originalment en castellà a la segona part del segle XIX. Podem pensar en l'any 1851, que era el bicentenari del vot de poble, o una mica més tard, amb motiu d'una pesta que s'abaté sobre la vila i per la qual s'invocà el sant doblement protector de la vila, el gloriós apòstol Andreu. De fet, des de la carta pobla de la Selva, l'any 1165, Sant Andreu és el titular de la parròquia i rep la veneració secular dels selvatans.
