  • En esclatar la guerra civil espanyola, Josep Marull es va incorporar al front en defensa dels ideals de la República, però l’any 1939 es va haver d’exiliar a França. Ben aviat sortí cap a Mèxic, on s’instal·là i on va viure la resta de la seva vida. Allí Marull es va implicar a fons en el món dels catalans que s’hi havien refugiat. I, a la vegada, la seva integració a la societat mexicana fou completa, tot i no haver perdut mai el seu sentiment català. Participà en mulitud d’iniciatives politiques i socials fins al seu traspàs, l’any 1987.
